Optimizing Your 6-Month Study Plan for the UKMLA/ PLAB 1 Exam

Crafting a comprehensive and effective study plan is crucial for success in the PLAB 1 exam. This guide offers a structured approach to ensure you cover all necessary materials while optimizing your study habits for better retention and understanding. Tailor this plan to fit your schedule and learning style, and you'll be on your way to acing the PLAB 1 exam.

Step 1: Establish Your Starting Point

Utilize our study essential note: This will filter 1800 essential exam like MCQs and its relevant note.   We have specifically update and added extra information to the essential question explanation so you will be able to learn all the high yield concepts for a topic from just one question. This feature is helpful for you to start your preparation with or for last minute revision

Deciding how to begin your study process is vital. You have two primary options:

  • Start with Questions: Jump straight into practicing high-yield questions. Aim for 50 questions a day, carefully reviewing both correct and incorrect answers to fully grasp each topic. Complement this with a quick review of key points and highlights from revision notes. This phase should take about 2-3 months.

  • Begin with Notes: If you prefer starting with theory, go through the highlighted sections and key points of each revision note first. Follow this up with 40-50 high-yield questions daily to apply what you've learned. This approach also spans 2-3 months.

Step 2: Practice the remaining non essential questions and Mock Exams

  • Complete the remaining non-essential questions to test whether you have learnt the concepts necessary for you to answer these questions.

  • Utilize customizable mock exams to simulate real test conditions. Start with smaller tests (e.g., 75 questions in 75 minutes) without focusing on scores. Prioritize understanding the rationale behind each question, especially incorrect ones. Gradually increase the difficulty and aim for a 70% success rate before moving on to low-yield questions. This stage should last 1-2 months.

Step 3: Intensive Mock Exam Practice

Reset the mock exams and begin taking full-timed mocks (180 questions in 180 minutes) daily, including both high-yield and low-yield questions. This is crucial for building stamina and familiarity with the exam format.

Step 4: Engage in Smart Revision

Take advantage of our smart revision program early on, even from your first mock exams. This tool identifies weak areas and employs spaced repetition to enhance long-term memory retention. It also allows for the manual addition of questions for review, ensuring a personalized revision experience.

"This helped me a lot to build up my knowledge and practice time management which was essential for my success!

Since many guidelines and even medications were different from my country, the notes were very useful to understand and focus on what's important. I believe this knowledge will also help me a lot in plab 2! I'm very grateful. The timed mocks and smart revision are differentials and the notes are useful to revise concepts"
